Miss Kathy Brings Literacy Alive for Classroom Enrichment!
Meet Betsy Ross!
Miss Kathy, in colonial Quaker attire, portrays Betsy Ross, famed Revolutionary era seamstress who is credited with the creation of America's first flag. The story of George Washington visiting Mrs. Ross to commission the job was shared with families at Tri-County. Ooo's and Ahhh's were widespread when Miss Kathy demonstrated the way Betsy Ross convinced General Washingotn to use a five pointed star rather than a six-pointed star with a simiple trick of folding cloth and snipping an edge to produce a perfect star specimin. Children and parents mastered the trick and created their own red, whte, and blue versions of the stars and stripes.
