New Stories for a New Year
January 12, 2009
Joyful New Year and peaceful tidings as we enter 2009!
Pageant Wagon Productions has hit the January Drawing Board with lots of story adventures on the horizon for 2009!
Christmas and December shows are packed away for another year, as Miss Kathy's office is freshly crammed with all sorts of resource books, props, and costumes, the fruit of which will find their way into the many new programs planned for 2009:
PARABLE PLAYER'S HOME SCHOOL THEATRE! Servicing the large home school population in Southern New Jersey is front and center this semester as Miss Kathy debuts the Parable Player's Home School Theatre. Classes will take place at the Calvary Chapel Playhouse (the home of our summer melodramas) and include a twelve week course of study culminating in a performance for family and friends. Students ages 8 through 15 will learn about the history of drama, various theatrical genres, elements of the stage and acting techniques. Public speaking skills will be exercised, inspiration and creativity will abound. This course can be offered each semester so long as there is the demand. Plus, students can take different levels of the course so it doesn't need to be a one and done deal. Interested in the next semester of home school theatre? Contact Miss Kathy now to get on the waiting list!
SCRIPTING MELODRAMA 2009: Research is almost complete, the songs have been selected, costumes gathered, props secured. Now, all the Pageant Wagon Players need is a script. That's why you don't see too much of Miss Kathy during the last fortnight of January when she locks herself away in her office and writes, writes, and re-writes! Scripts are birthed anywhere from three days to two weeks. The suspense has us tingling with excitement as we await the March read-thru of SHOWSTOPPERS AT STARR'S THEATRICAL EMPORIUM or "The Villain Vaudevillian"!!!
Speaking of writing . . .
PAGEANT WAGON WRITER'S CLUB: Miss Kathy will tutor your youngster in grammar and writing skills. As a Principle Approach teacher, formerly teaching in private schools, Miss Kathy developed a creative approach to writing, built on the solid foundation of traditional writing disciplines, proper grammar, and the rich use of language as exampled in our legacy of classic literature. Learning the art of "re-writing" and knowing that to write is to re-write, helps young people slow down in their rush to communicate through the written word, so they can communicate with wisdom, intelligence, and accuracy. Know a youngster struggling with the written word? Miss Kathy can help equip the youthful pen for a lifetime of communication. Contact Miss Kathy for tutorial fees and details.
