Happy February One and All!
Miss Kathy has been caught reading books again! Lots of them! And when Miss Kathy reads - she writes! All in anticipation of creating new story adventures for 2009!
SCRIPTWRITING COMPLETE! That's right! The script for Melodrama 2009 coming this July 30-31 and Augut 1 is complete and jam-packed with lots of song and dance and plenty of belly laughs. Set in a vaudeville theatre in the late 1800's, the SHOWSTOPPERS AT STARR'S THEATRICAL EMPORIUM or "The Villain Vaudevillian" storyline nods playfully at some of the most memorable characters and schitck that has delighted Melodrama audiences the past four years as the Pageant Wagon Players celebrate five years of family friendly live theatre! The much anticipated read-thru is comming up in the next few weeks and before we know it, we'll be starting rehearsals. We'll keep you updated on all the preparations for this not-to-be-missed theatrical event!
PARABLE PLAYER'S HOME SCHOOL THEATRE! Servicing the large home school population in Southern New Jersey is front and center this semester as Miss Kathy debuts the Parable Player's Home School Theatre. Classes have begun at the Calvary Chapel Playhouse (the home of our summer melodramas) with six enthusiastic youngsters - a nice small class for individualized attention. The twelve week course of study culminates in a performance for family and friends on April 20. Students learn about the history of drama, theatrical genres, and elements of the stage and acting techniques. ATTENTION LIBRARIANS: Miss Kathy has two programs available to present in celebration of the 2009 Summer Reading Program theme of "Get Creative @ Your Library": Making Masterpieces with an emphasis on art and master-artists, and a theatre workshop where youngsters make stories come alive through improvisational performance. PAGEANT WAGON WRITER'S CLUB: Word is getting around that Miss Kathy will tutor your youngster in grammar and writing skills. Know a youngster struggling with the written word? VALENTINE'S DAY AT WHEATON ARTS! Miss Kathy will bring Victorian Valentine splendor to the grand Victorian foyer of the Museum of American Glass at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in Millville on Saturday, February 14th. How many ways are there to say "I Love You?" We'll count them and have a grand time doing so!
DR. SUESS & ST. PATTY'S DAY 'ROUND THE CORNER! Still some dates open in March for Miss Kathy's traditional St. Patrick's Day programs tailored for audiences of all ages. Lest we forget - March is also "READ ACROSS AMERICA" when we celebrate the great DR. SUESS. Miss Kathy has dynamic Dr. Suess shows for preschool, elementary, and even select middle school students who are seekers of all "good things and beauty" in their life - starting with a passion for literacy and learning! A great choice for Literacy Night celebrations and Dr. Suess themed parties.
MISS KATHY WELCOMES THE EASTER BUNNY MID-MARCH at Cumberland Mall in Vineland, on Friday, March 20 at 6:00pm in Center Court with stories and a craft. Plan to be their with your younster to welcome Spring in this traditional, memory making!!
STROLLING THROUGH EMILY'S GARDEN with Miss Kathy as Emily Dickinson in APRIL'S NATIONAL POETRY MONTH is the perfect program for your ladies' group, club, mother daughter banquets, literary society, or school classroom. The program can be adapted for various groups and various ages and seasonally as well since gardens and Emily Dickinson have something to say spring, summer, winter and fall. Also in this series is A JANE AUSTEN TEA and REVOLUTIONARY WOMEN featuring salutes to American matriarchs and role models, Betsy Ross, Abigail Adams, and Sarah Hale! VINELAND'S FOUNDER'S DAY COMING IN MAY - May 15-16, 2009 finds Mr. Ed as Vineland philantropist, Leverett Newcomb, and Miss Kathy as Vinealnd newspaper woman, Millie Case of The Vineland Independent, working with other historic re-enactors to present this annual event celebrating the history of Vineland< New Jersey. This year, the Calvary Chapel Theatrical Choir will present a Musical Military Salute to the five branches of tohe military in the morning on Saturday, May 16. Camp-by-Candlelight on May 15 is expected to be full of surprises with the emphasis on the Civil War era and lifestyles. Call 856 205-9334 for more info!
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS: Contact Miss Kathy and ask about her Classic Literature Book Dramatizations for the classroom! Newbery Honor book, "The Golden Goblet" by Eloise Jarvis McGraw and "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C. S. Lewis, are just two of the tales Miss Kathy will be sharing at local elementary schools this spring. Programs feature an adapted retelling of a classic for all, and may include a follow-up interactive workshop especially geared to LEAP students!
