Miss Kathy's Tale Spin Stories Children's Book Review column can be found on the last page of each monthly issue of South Jersey MOM Magazine - available free of charge at locations throughout Southern New Jersey.

After an arduous labor and delivery with traumatic complications, followed by a recovery fraught with emotional ups and downs, Adrienne was convinced her magazine was needed even more.  There might be many other mother's out there who could use the kind of support, encouragement, and advice she hoped to fill her pages with.  She was overwhelmed with a strong connection to other moms and the desire to reach out to them. South Jersey MOM was the answer!     South Jersey MOM Magazine is the brainchild of Vineland resident, Adrienne Richardson.  As a young career woman in her late twenties, Adrienne and her husband, Eric, were joyfully starting their family.  When she was just five months pregnant, the public relations firm she worked for in the city laid her off.  The loss of her job became a blessing in disguise as she began to lay the groundwork for the publication of her own magazine on a subject she was about to have an intimate relationship with:  being a South Jersey mom.

That was two years ago, with the premier issue of South Jersey MOM Magazine rolling off the presses in January of 2007.  I met Adrienne (pictured right, with me at a book signing event) shortly after that when she stopped by to introduce herself to me after a Tale Spin Stories performance at Cumberland Mall.  She initially thought Miss Kathy and Tale Spin Stories might make a nice feature story.  But, as we spoke, she wondered if Miss Kathy might have a little more to offer South Jersey moms - on a monthly basis. My first Tale Spin Stories Children's Book Review column appeared in the April 2007 issue.  I have enjoyed my working relationship and growing friendship with Adrienne ever since.  I am delighted to share my passion for family literacy as a lifestyle through my book reviews and follow-up activities, pointing moms and dads towards the best in books for children and families from a storyteller who knows!
